Aileen Friesen

Aileen Friesen is an assistant professor and the co-director of the Centre for Transnational Mennonite Studies at the University of Winnipeg as well as the executive director of the Plett Foundation. She is the author of Colonizing Russia’s Promised Land: Orthodoxy and Community on the Siberian Steppe (2020) and the editor of The Russian Mennonite Story: The Heritage Cruise Lecture (2018). Her current work focuses on Mennonite migration into, through, and out of the Russian empire.
