Dr Heidi Hein-Kircher
PD Dr. Heidi Hein-Kircher earned her “Habilitation” degree at Philipps-University in Marburg with the second book project “Securitizing Lemberg. Practices, strategies and visions in local government in a multi-ethnic city of the Habsburg Empire”. She has been on the research staff of the Herder-Institute for Historical Research in East Central Europe in Marburg, Germany since 2003 where she is head of the department department “academic forum” since 2009. Her current project compares attitudes towards family planning in Eastern Europe with Western trends since 19th century. In her research, she has focused on political and cultural memory and political cults and on urban history of the 19th and 20th in East Central Europe. Generally interested in Polish history and in Jewish and minority history of 19th and 20th centuries, she is working on democratization, nationalizing and securitizing processes as well as on East Central Europe as a conflict region
