Maria Silina

Maria Silina is an Adjunct Professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Department of History of Art. They are the author of History and Ideology: Architectural Sculpture of the 1920-1930s in the USSR (2014, in Russian). Their current book project is titled Soviet Museology Between Revolution and World War (V-A-C Foundation Moscow, Bard Graduate Center New York, forthcoming 2023). They participate in several research projects that address communist art, culture, memory and heritage studies, including Expériences et usages du passé dans les communautés en ligne : (n)ostalgies de l’ancienne République démocratique allemande in collaboration with Katharina Niemeyer (UQAM), a project with the Ruhr-University Bochum on the State Academy of Artistic Sciences (GAKhN), a project on Socialist gendered spaces toghether with Das Kunsthistorische Institut in Florenz and some others.
