Ana Matoso

Ana Matoso is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Sciences of Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Her mains fields of interest are the intersection between literature, philosophy and religion, as well as translation. She obtained her PhD in 2012 (from the University of Lisbon), with a dissertation on Tolstoy and Wittgenstein. Some of her academic publications are: “The art of communal life: from Tolstoy to Dewey” (in Meaningful Relations: The Enactivist Making of Experiential Worlds, Academia Philosophical Studies. Baden-Baden: Academia-Verlag, 2021); “Um peixe é um peixe” ou a escada de Tolstoi (A Fish is a fish, or Tolstoy’s ladder – in RUS/ São Paulo, v. 12, n.º 18); “Homo Fictus, Homo Sapiens, ou porque é que Moll Flanders poderia estar em Cambridge” (“Homo Fictus,Homo Sapiens, or why Moll Flanders could be now in Cambridge” – in Forma de Vida, Lisboa, July 2015); “Os Evangelhos Segundo Lev Tolstoi” ("The gospel according to Tolstoy" – in Mundo Russo/ Russkii Mir, Lisboa, Edições Colibri, 2012). She has recently co-translated, co-prefaced and co-annotated Nadejda Mandelshtam’s memoirs, Esperança contra esperança – Memórias (Imprensa da Universidade de Lisboa - forthcoming in 2021).
