My research examines the portrayal of Russian terrorist women in the United States at the turn of the century. I am particularly interested in the ways that pre-existing justifications of violent acts in US culture provided a fruitful environment for the popularity of Russian terrorist arguments and how the gendered portrayal of Russian terrorists influenced the US-Russia relationship. You can find my most recent article on Russian terrorists and former US abolitionists in the Massachusetts Historical Review
