Adriana Kovacheva

I am assistant professor at Research Unit of Gender and Transcultural Balkan Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland), Slavic literary scholar, translator and language editor of the journal Poznan Slavic Studies. I am interested in 20th century Polish literature, Bulgarian modernity and translation studies. Her second specialization encompasses comparative studies of the literature of Polish and Bulgarian People’s Republics. Author of the books (Не)забележимата преводачка. Еманципационни преводни практики на Дора Габе (2017; The (Un)noticeable Translator. Emancipatory Translational Practices of Dora Gabe) and Ścieżkami tłumaczy. Poezja polska w Bułgarii w latach 1956-1989 (2016; The Paths of Translators. Polish Poetry in Bulgaria in 1956–1989). Co-editor of several monographs: Bułgarystyka – tradycje i przyszłość/Българистиката – традиция и бъдеще (2020, Bulgarian Studies – Traditions and Future Development); България – страна на розите (2018, Bulgaria – the Country of Roses), Bułgaria – tradycyjna i nowoczesna (2017, Traditional and Contemporary Bulgaria). I participated in EU COST Action Women Writers in History – Towards a New Understanding of European Literary Culture and in the research grants Encyklopedia gender: płeć kulturowa and Wielkopolski słownik pisarek. Currently I am managing the research project Wilhelm Mach’s letters to colleagues from Poland and Bulgaria as the basis for a microhistory of literary anti-homophobic communities.
