Evita Badina, Dr. philol., is a researcher in the Department of English Philology and Translatology at Daugavpils University, Latvia. Now she is involved in the project “Literary and Political Discourse of Translations in Totalitarianism: Anglophone Literature in Soviet Latvia” supported by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Her scientific interests comprise translation studies, cultural studies, and comparative literature. Her PH Thesis was devoted to the development of detective short story from Edgar Allan Poe to Arthur Conan Doyle; at the university she holds lectures in the British and American literature of the 20th century. Her recent published articles are devoted to the contrastive analysis of the Latvian publications of works written by Anglophone authors and translated into Latvian during the Soviet regime focusing on both internal and external structures of text (J. Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath", E. Hemingway's "A Farewell to Arms").
