Dr Irena Vladimirsky

Completed her Ph.D. studies at the Cummings Center for Russian and East European Studies at Tel Aviv University. Did her post-doctoral studies at the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context” program at Heidelberg University (the encyclopedia research group). Her sphere of research interests includes the history of the Jewish diasporas of Central Asia, China and the Russian Far East (between the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries); the history of national encyclopedias; and the history of academic institutions and institutions of higher education in Russia (between the nineteenth and first half of the twentieth centuries). Dr. Vladimirsky is also the author of numerous encyclopedia entries and articles.
