Jun Kumakura

Jun Kumakura is an associate professor at Hosei University (Tokyo, Japan). He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Tokyo in 2016. His research topics include ethnic policies of China and the Soviet Union, and relationships between China and the Soviet Union. He was a Fox International Fellow at Yale University in 2012-2013, an exchange student at Russian State University for the Humanities in 2013-2014, a senior visiting student of Chinese government scholarship at Peking University in 2014-2016, and an Overseas Research Fellow of the Japan Society for Promotion of Science at National Chengchi University in 2016-2018. He is the author of National self-determination and national unity: ethnic-minority elites in the Soviet Union and the Peoples Republic of China (University of Tokyo Press, 2020).
