Anna Tsurkan
Dr. Anna Tsurkan is a Founder and Project Coordinator of the Canada-Russia Research Initiative (CRRI). She grew up in Russia where she received all her degrees, including PhD. Anna's alma mater, Russia Academy of Sciences, hosted her as a lecturer back in 2009 when Anna developed and delivered a course of lectures on Russian foreign policy at the School of Politics at the Institute of Philosophy. Later, in 2013, she started as a research fellow at the Institute of the U.S.A. and Canada. Following Anna’s move to Canada in 2016, she obtained an associate fellowship at the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society of the University of Victoria. Her main area of research includes US-Russia and Canada-Russia relations, Islamic radicalism and counterterrorism. She writes multiple papers and gives presentations on a broad range of security and political topics linked to Russia.
