Yakov Lazarev
LAZAREV, Yakov. Doctor of History, Research fellow of the Laboratory of Primary Sources, Ural Institute of Humanities of the Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg, Russia).
Graduated from the Historical Department of the Ural State University in 2009. Post-graduate student of the Ural Federal University (2009–2012). Defended Doctoral thesis “"Great Russian" administration of the Hetmanat in 1700-1727: the evolution of institutions and their status” in 2012.
Passed scientific trainings in the Institute of German Historical Institute in Moscow (2011, 2015).
The winner of competitions for grants of the Russian Science Support Foundation (2015-2017), competition for grants of the President of the Russian Federation for state support of scientific research of young Russian scientists (2015-2020), Russian Science Foundation (2018-2021).
Participant of scientific projects: “«Return to Europe»: Russian elites and European innovations, norms and models (18th – early 20th centuries)” (“Megagrant” of the Government of Russian Federation, in cooperation with University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, 2013–2017); projects supported by grants of the Russian Science Support Foundation: “Geopolitical competition as a factor of administrative and social transformation in the South-West of the Russian state in the XVIII century” (2018–2019).
Author of more than 30 publications; participant of international conferences in France, Hungary and Russia.
Scientific interests: the history of concepts, historical sociology, intellectual history, historical memory, history of Russia XVIII century, Administrative reforms of Peter I, the ruling elite of the Russian Empire, the management of the border regions of the Russian Empire, the historiography of Russian-Ukrainian relations, historical geography, the fiscal policy of the Russian state.
