Academic publishing operates as a glacial pace, with peer review serving as both gatekeeper and quality control. To “succeed” in academia (whatever that means), we must go to great lengths to make sure that our work is published, even if it is read by only a handful of people. In this lecture, Dr. Eliot Borenstein addresses the following questions: How can digital media supplement our more traditional publication model, allowing us to reach a broader audience and express ourselves in a more accessibly manner while still checking the necessary boxes for advancement or survival in academia? Can we use our expertise to create an appealing video, blog entry, or social media feed, and still respect ourselves the next morning?
