Proposal guide
This page gives further details on information you will be required to provide in our online proposal form.
To submit a proposal, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Format
- Title
- Theme and sub-theme (from a list provided)
- Target audience
- 2-5 keywords describing the subject (practice/research) of your activity
- 150-200-word abstract (description)
Below are details to help you prepare your submission.
Activity formats
Here are the possible formats for your submission(s):
- lightning talks*
- poster presentations
- presentations of research findings or education initiatives
- roundtables (panel discussions)
- workshops**

*NOTE for lightning talks: you will be required to indicate the impact of the strategy or research you will present.
**NOTE for workshops: you will be asked to indicate how your workshop will include audience participation.
Proposal theme and sub-theme(s)
You will be asked to choose from the following conference themes:
Theme 1: Collaborative Action to Support Linguistic Minority Education
Theme 2: Diversity and Education within Minority Language Communities
Theme 3: Sustainable Futures, Education and English-speaking Communities in Quebec
You will be asked to choose from the following sub-themes OR provide your own:
- Celebrations of the resilience of communities (minority, educational, professional, etc.)
- Impact of recent updates to language policies and laws on the English-language education system in Quebec
- Communities within communities: including the voices/needs/experiences of marginalised communities in English-language education
- Projects and practices for supporting inter-level cooperation in education
- Comparisons with education and community initiatives in linguistic minority communities outside of Quebec
- Media engagement in linguistic minority issues
- Strategies for encouraging productive partnerships/relationships between minority and majority linguistic communities
- Support for the social/emotional needs of students
- Development of alternative schools and pedagogical practices
- Lasting impacts of pedagogical responses to COVID-19, such as e-learning on educational practices in primary, secondary, CEGEP and university settings
- Employability for All: Future skills and equal access to the job market
- Adaption of recruitment and workplace practices to marginalised community needs
- Measures to improve student retention or reduce the dropout rate
