Jenni Lauwrens obtained a PhD in Art History and Image Studies from the University of the Free State (UFS) in 2015. She is currently an Associate Professor in Visual Culture Studies in the School of the Arts at the University of Pretoria (UP). Her research focuses on the intersection of visual culture studies and sensory studies. She is interested in how the senses are solicited, performed and experienced in encounters with art, visual culture and digital technologies. Jenni is co-editor of the journal Image & Text and in 2022 she published Embodiment and the arts: View from South Africa (ed).
