Grace Lees-Maffei PhD MA RCA FRHistS FRSA FHEA is Professor of Design History and Programme Director for DHeritage, the Professional Doctorate in Heritage, at the University of Hertfordshire (UK). Prof Lees-Maffei is Chair of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Design History, published by Oxford University Press for the Design History Society. She researches design history and heritage, methodology and historiography, design mediation, domesticity, national identity and globalisation in design. She is author of Design at Home: Domestic Advice Books in Britain and the USA since 1945 and co-author with Nicolas P. Maffei of Reading Graphic Design. She is editor of Writing Design: Words and Objects and Iconic Designs: 50 Stories about 50 Things, co-editor with Prof Rebecca Houze (Norther Illinois University, USA) of Design and Heritage: The Construction of Identity and Belonging and the Design History Reader, and co-editor with Prof Kjetil Fallan (University of Oslo, Norway) of Made in Italy: Rethinking a Century of Italian Design, and Designing Worlds: National Design Histories in an Age of Globalization with Kjetil Fallan. Grace's articles have appeared in Design Issues, Design and Culture, The Design Journal, the Journal of Design History, Women's History Review, Journal of Writing in Creative Practice, Arts and Humanities in Higher Education and Modern Italy
