Olya Zikrata

Olya Zikrata is an artist-researcher based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. She has recently completed her doctorate at Concordia University. Her dissertation, entitled “The Sonic Operative: Sound, Activism, and The Politics of Response to Post-Soviet Crises” (2023), develops an argument for a situated, implicated, and contextually grounded work of sound by which to imagine and craft political action. Her artistic practice ranges across different media, from poetry and experimental film, to collaborative multimedia productions. She is also a dedicated teacher who has worked with many aspiring pianists.
