With the common goal of staff and faculty development as well as support for research and innovative approaches at the college, the Pedagogical Development and Innovation team at John Abbott College was created in 2020. The team is comprised of two Pedagogical Support and Innovation Specialists, a Research Officer, a Revision Specialist, and an Assessment Specialist under the supervision of the Dean of Pedagogical Development and Innovation. Prior to the creation of the team, each member worked primarily individually, reporting to different supervisors, and in physically separated office spaces. This largely created a siloed approach which was addressed with the forming of a team that provides increased support to faculty and staff by leveraging team members’ expertise.
During this roundtable panel, each member will discuss their specific portfolio as well as detail how they collaborate with the other team members. Notable initiatives surrounding new pedagogies, regional internships, early career faculty programming, and artificial intelligence will be addressed. Lessons learned and implications for student success will be covered as well.
