Special Kukik Kusugak is an Inuk artist from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, specializing in traditional and modern Inuit art forms such as sewing, beading, print making, wall-hangings and more.
Special's artistic journey began in childhood, learning from family and community members. She has since expanded her skills through various workshops and programs, including the Winnipeg Art Gallery's workshops (2020-2024), Inuit Futures Curatorial Institute (2022), Ilitaqsiniq programs, and Nunavut Parks' "Learn To" initiatives.
Professionally, Special serves as the Coordinator at the Kivallia Regional Visitor Centre, where she promotes regional tourism and shares her knowledge of Inuit culture.
Committed to preserving and promoting Inuit culture, Special continues to explore and learn about her heritage. Her passion drives her contributions to positive changes in Inuit art across the circumpolar world.
