From November 6th-8th, 2024, Inuit Futures in Arts Leadership is excited to host the symposium ᕿᓐᓂᕋᔮᑦᑐᖅ Qinnirajaattuq / Ripples: Making Waves in Inuit Art, in Montreal / Tiohtià:ke! Qinnirajaattuq coincides with the opening of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts' new permanent Inuit art exhibition, ᐆᒻᒪᖁᑎᒃ / uummaqutik, other new exhibitions Ilagiit / Relatives at FoFA Gallery and Amisut/ Many at La Guilde, as well as performances, a live podcast recording, panels, discussions, talks, vendors, workshops, and more!

Artists, curators, museum professionals, scholars, students, Elders and others invested in Inuit art from across Inuit Nunaat and beyond will come together to reflect on where we've come from, assess the state of the arts, and plan for the future. Together we will share knowledge and highlight innovative practices happening within Inuit regions and throughout the circumpolar world. Over the three jam-packed days events will be hosted by Inuit Futures in partnership with Concordia University, the Inuit Art Foundation, Avataq Cultural Institute, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Taqramiut Nipingat Incorporated, La Guilde, FoFA Gallery, Centre Phi, and others throughout the city.

Registration is now open! Please note that registration is also required for Workshops, all of which take place on the afternoon of Thursday November 7th. Additional details will be added to the schedule in the coming weeks!

We would like to acknowledge that Concordia University and partner venues of the symposium are located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather these events. Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.
