Veronica Flowers

Inuit Futures
Participates in 1 Session

Veronica Flowers is an artist from Hopedale, Nunatsiavut. She first began sewing at the age of 10 at a local sewing workshop, along with her sister Vanessa, where she learned how to hand-sew traditional Labrador-style moosehide slippers with beaded tongues. In her teen years, she continued to create and sell slippers, as well as sealskin mitts, keychains, earrings, and other accessories. As a young adult, she has participated in many craft fairs and her work has been featured at multiple locations. Furthermore, Veronica and Vanessa have facilitated many sewing workshops to show and teach others about their work. The sisters have a joint craft account on Instagram (@vandvcrafts). During summer 2023, Veronica and friend Kimberly facilitated a series of sealskin workshops, including a kamik-making program, in Nain, Nunatsiavut. Veronica holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Science and a M.A. in Environmental Policy, both at MUN Grenfell Campus. She currently lives in Ottawa and recently worked as a Policy Advisor for Climate Change at Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami.
