Like most young Inuk girls, I started sewing as a child and learned basic sewing skills through observation.
My sewing went into full bloom when I became a mother and had to provide warm winter clothing for my children. I like making wearable art that is unique and outside of the norm.
I have taught sewing such as making semi modern hunting gear, kamik making, amautik making, beading, and cleaning seal skins, mostly on a voluntary basis at my home.
I am passionate about empowering young women through teaching sewing techniques and sharing inuit clothing patterns.
Although I have 30 years sewing experience, I still considers myself as an amateur
seamstress.
I believe in Inuit values that are skill based, such as "women were ready for marriage once they learn to sew hunting gear" and/or "make palaugaaq"
