Émilie Rochette
Émilie Rochette holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in psychopedagogy from Université Laval, as well as a PhD in psychology (research profile) from the Université de Montréal. During her university studies, she was primarily interested in the influence of the quality of mother–child relationships on the development of young children.
After completing her PhD, she worked for thirteen years at the Ministry of Health and Social Services in the areas of service organization related to family violence and violence against women, international relations, and public health. She has held the position of program manager for the “Grand Societal Challenges” division of the Fonds de recherche du Québec for the past two years. She is responsible for postdoctoral fellowship programs, including “Scientist in Residence” (governmental and municipal streams) and “Scientific Entrepreneurship.”

This panel seeks to highlight the breadth of alternative careers, such as science communication, research administration, nonprofit work and more. Postdocs will hear about how to evaluate which paths align with their strengths, what hiring processes look like, and how to present their academic expertise to employers in new sectors.
