In this presentation, P.Bianucci will describe how ideas from condensed matter physics can be used to bring new insights into a well-known optical system such as the ring resonator. These ideas show us how to quantify the mode-splitting in a perturbed ring resonator, and how to create rings with topological confinement of light.
