Tin Cugelj

MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow
University of Nottingham / IMS Study Group Auditory History

Starting September 2025, Tin Cugelj is an incoming MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Nottingham on the project SOUNDSHIP: Resounding Ships: Sound and Music of Sacred Sea Travel between Venice and Jerusalem (c. 1450-1650).
 

He obtained his doctoral degree in historical musicology at the University of Bern on the auditory experience of Mass in early modern Republic of Dubrovnik (1450-1667). His interests lay in auditory history, community dynamics, collective identities, and performance practice, and he presented his academic work at conferences across Europe and in publications. He is a member of various international societies and networks and is a founding member and co-chair of the IMS Study Group Auditory History. 
 

Tin regularly performs on historical trombones across Europe and North America and artistically leads Ensemble Responsorium (Croatia) and co-directs ensemble canticum trombonorum (Switzerland).
