About our Forum series

Since 2018, the QUESCREN Education and Vitality Forum is a biennial event that has been providing nuanced insights into Quebec’s English-language education continuum

From pre-K to post-secondary education to lifelong learning, the Forums explore the role of the education system in ensuring the vitality and sustainability of Quebec’s minority language community and the multitude of identities it encompasses.

This is the fourth Forum on community vitality and education convened by QUESCREN. Check out our previous Forums below!

FORUM 2018: "MINORITY COMMUNITY VITALITY THROUGH EDUCATION"

The first Forum took place in October 2018 at Concordia University under the theme “Minority Community Vitality through Education.”

This three-day event focused on the development of research teams around concrete projects, proposed strategies for improving the continuum of educational offer, and increased the synergy of educational networks around English-language community vitality in Quebec.

FORUM 2021 : "SUPPORTING ENGLISH-LANGUAGE MINORITY EDUCATION IN QUEBEC"

For Quebec’s English-language education system, public health and political events during the COVID-19 pandemic presented new issues and highlighted pre-existing vitality challenges.

In 2021, the second Education and Vitality Forum responded to these issues by bringing together researchers, practitioners, community stakeholders and policy-makers during a two-day virtual event. Participants shared and discussed best practices and initiatives that support our diverse communities.

FORUM 2023 : "ENHANCING QUEBEC'S ENGLISH-LANGUAGE EDUCATION NETWORK THROUGH COLLABORATION"

Returning to the original in-person format, the 2023 Forum explored how community collaboration and inter-level cooperation is essential for navigating and adapting to the ever-changing educational and political context.
