Concordia University, together with the National Research Council Canada, is honored to host the 17th International Conference on the Durability of Building Materials and Components (XVII DBMC) in Montreal, Canada, July 20-24, 2026. This triennial conference was first held in Ottawa, Canada, in 1978 and was last hosted in Canada in 1999 for the 8th DBMC held in Vancouver, now nearly 25 years ago.
This conference will focus on the impact of climate change and novel construction technologies with respect to the durability and performance of building materials, components, and systems. The intent is to address the significant challenges that researchers and expert practitioners in the areas need to address with respect to the:
- Climate Change, decarbonization, and Environmental Resilience
- Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and other Environmental Impacts
- Evaluation of the Durability of Building Materials, Components, and systems
- Rapidly Developing Technologies in Construction
A number of contributions are expected on the most recent technological advances as may be accessed through the plenary as well as oral and poster sessions, including workshops and meetings organized in conjunction with the conference. Several CIB and ISO working groups or commissions have also made Montreal their choice for an annual workshop or meeting.
