Great Minds Think Alike Session
Great Minds Think Alike sessions are a type of networking session. Participants choose one of five topics of interest. A facilitator for the group will share a Google Doc so that all participants in the group can collaborate and share ideas
By the end of the session, each group will walk away with a document of new contacts, shared resources, and new ideas for support from the CNIE.
The topics include:
Graduate Student Group
Instructional Design & Pedagogical Innovation
Open Education Resources (OER)
Media and Technology
Work and Life Balance / Time Management
The session is structured like this:
1. All participants join the same virtual meeting room in Wonder (access available through the
conference platform).
2. The host will introduce the five topics and explain how to get started.
3. You may choose the session of most interest to you.
4. You are then invited to join a ‘circle’ associated with that topic.
To join a virtual group, simply drag your avatar to the ‘circle’ of choice and you will automatically be added to the group
5. You’ll have the remainder of the session for your group discussion and networking document. Note: These are intended to be interactive discussions; the leaders are facilitators not speakers.
a. Anyone in the group can contribute to the shared document.
b. You will receive warnings that the session is about to end.
6. The session host will make an announcement when the circles come to a close, however, the group is welcome to stay as long as they wish. The host will also announce where the Google documents will be made available to everyone (without your personal contacts).
7. After the conference, expect to receive an e-mail from your group facilitator so that your new network can continue the discussion.
Important:
Try joining the Wonder hallway at least one time before this session so you are familiar with the platform. It may be new to you, but it is very user-friendly!
It is important to allow Wonder access to your microphone and video when prompted for the first time.
