Adriana is a lifelong learner with a deep passion for Onlea's mission: “Mindful online learning crafted with scholarship, creativity and quality”. Her education started in the field of Computing Science and continued with an M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the University of Toronto. Her training didn’t stop there, with each new challenge in her career path of 20+ years, came with a need for new skills, including Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Business Development. As such, Adriana is an advocate for learner-centric education that adapts to the needs of the market.

As Onlea's CEO, Adriana believes in the application of technology, pedagogy and story-telling to the development of engaging eLearning. Early on in her career, she spent 11 years with videogame developer BioWare, growing from Software Engineer to Senior Development Director for the award-winning franchise: Dragon Age. As an IT consultant,  she managed several projects, including the design of the Data-Centre for the Rogers Arena in Edmonton. With this background, Adriana brings a new take to the application of technology to education, with the vision of replacing traditional education models with a new paradigm where learning is fun and no learner is left behind.

About this Keynote: The prospect of developing an equity practice in education can be daunting. To begin with, the academy, at its inception, was designed to be exclusionary, in addition, today’s educators are increasingly stretched by day-to-day demands and societal changes. So getting it wrong, at least occasionally, is guaranteed. This keynote explores historical and contemporary inequities in ...
