Rivosecchi Melissa

Teaching & Research Librarian, Social Sciences
Concordia University
9

With over 5 years experience as an academic librarian, and two and half years as a training and implementation specialist, my goal is to always help others find an answer to their question or help find solutions to the problems they may be encountering. I have a passion for research, learning and instruction, educational technology, and continuously work on developing my skills in these areas.

I have a Master's in Library and Information Studies (2015 - specialization librarianship) from McGill University and I recently completed the Graduate Diploma in Instructional Technology (2021) program at Concordia University. I started my librarianship career at Concordia Library where I worked as a Business Librarian for three years. I also worked at McGill Library as a Business and Geospatial Data Services Librarian, and as a training specialist at OCLC Canada providing support to the Quebec University Libraries implementation of the shared library catalogue project. I have returned back to Concordia as a Teaching & Research Librarian for social sciences. In particular, I will be providing library instruction and research support to the department of Education.

I am looking for new ways to incorporate educational technology practices in my own instruction and look forward to attending this conference!

About this Keynote: The prospect of developing an equity practice in education can be daunting. To begin with, the academy, at its inception, was designed to be exclusionary, in addition, today’s educators are increasingly stretched by day-to-day demands and societal changes. So getting it wrong, at least occasionally, is guaranteed. This keynote explores historical and contemporary inequities in ...
