As we work to educate our students and the general public about art interpretation, we often find ourselves wondering: “how can I engage someone without a background in art with a piece of artwork?” Narrative Inquiry is one of the methods that we can utilize to answer this question. We all make meaning out of artwork by crafting a story around it in our heads, whether that is a personal memory, a historical connection, or a fictional story about the work. This workshop will help educators to harness these inclinations and take away the fear of art interpretation, whether in a classroom or a museum.
