The Integrated Design Environment for Advanced biomanufacturing (IDEA Bio) is recently created facility that offers Systems Bioengineering and Synthetic Biology services. IDEA Bio is supported by Australia’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), the Queensland Government and the University of Queensland.

IDEA Bio aims to become an integrated space capable of providing cutting-edge synthetic biology and systems bioengineering services, offering high-throughput solutions for Australian researchers and businesses. By implementing a thorough characterization of microbial strains in instrumented bioreactors, we can help design the genetic changes needed to bring products from milligrams to kilograms. The IDEA Bio team has built expertise in all stages of the DBTL cycle, and has focused mostly in Design, Test and Learn. Our pipeline has served to identify the bottleneck in industrially relevant microorganism and improve production yields.
