Welcome
The first three International Symposia on Automated Composites Manufacturing were held in Montreal in April 2013, 2015 and 2017. These events were very successful for the composite manufacturing community with participation from many hundreds people from many countries. The symposia addressed hot topics in the area of advanced composites manufacturing using automated technologies. They brought together both academia and industrial practitioners and aimed to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial applications.
At the request of many, and following the trend toward increased use of automated manufacturing of composite structures, the Fourth International Symposium on Automated Composites Manufacturing (ACM4) is being organized to be held in Montreal April 25-26, 2019.
Objective and topics
The objective of this ACM4 is to provide a forum for presentation and discussion on the latest development in automated composites. The topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Automated manufacturing of thermoset and thermoplastic composite structures
- Automated dry fiber placement
- Automated manufacturing of composite structures with complex shape
- Thermo stamping
- 4D printing of composite structures
- Fiber steering and variable stiffness composite structures
- Advances in materials and equipment suited for automation
- Process development and optimization
- Mechanical performance of fiber placed composite structures
- Quality assurance
- Virtual manufacturing environments
- A number of specialists with extensive experience in the field will be invited to present lectures.
