Research assistant, Masters student
Concordia University

My Name is Susannah Selber-Hnatiw. I am a second year masters student at Concordia University (alma mater) studying molecular biology with a focus on functional genomics and synthetic biology. My research involves the investigation of methyl selectivity in the biosynthetic production of secondary metabolites in the fungi Aspergillus niger to increase chemical diversity and modify properties of drug candidates. My current training exposes me to molecule optimization and late-stage gene functionalization using CRIPSR-Cas9.
