Participates in 1 Session

Cristóbal F. Barria Bignotti (Santiago de Chile, 1984) holds a PhD in Art History from Sapienza Università di Roma (2019). He is interested in studying the modes by which images participate in the organization of our sensorial experiences. His research covers a wide range of subjects, including the political connotations with which Gustave Courbet’s painting imbues our tactile experiences, and the anti-colonialist role conferred on the sense of touch within Latin American art and criticism. From 2017 to 2018, he was head of a study group in Latin American art at the Istituto Italo-Latinoamericano in Rome (IILA) and he co-edits the journal "Quaderni Culturali IILA" for the same institution.
