Ben Lee is PhD candidate in the Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His interest in occupational therapy and occupational science stems from his medical anthropology background, having graduated with a BA(Hons) from the Australian National University and a MRes from Macquarie University. He works primarily with adults diagnosed with schizophrenia or related psychotic disorders (e.g., schizo-affective disorder), with the aim of enhancing their participation in daily activities as a means of improving health and well-being outcomes. Ben's dissertation project involves using participatory and collaborative research methods to develop a new instrument/scale on the sensations people experience in daily life and their implications on activitiy participation, with the aim of developing the instrument into a tool that will help bridge the gap between laboratory-based findings about atypical sensory processing and embodied, lived experiences within real-world, everyday settings.
