Difficulty to find suitable and available tutors is often seen for small programs. In particular, due to the diversity of the Engineering Technologies Program at John Abbott College, it is very challenging to find persons with the needed competencies. With a constant increase of the diversity of learners seen in recent years, additional support is necessary to offer alternative instructional approaches and encourage students engagement. In this talk we are going to present our method on formation and functioning of study groups outside of class periods to improve content knowledge and enhance students study skill sets including time management. The model has been applied in both environments prior pandemic with on campus teaching/learning and online delivery of the content. Successful outcomes (supported by students success rates) and challenges will be discussed for the two settings. A focused snapshot of testimonies of students with accommodations granted by the Access Center of the college will be given. Our model is not program specific and can be applied in a large variety of programs.
