Saul Carliner

Saul Carliner is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Education at Concordia University. His research focuses on the design of materials for learning and communication in the workplace, the management of groups that produce these materials, and related issues of policy and professionalism. His research has received funding from SSHRC, Future Skills Centre, Employment and Skills Development Canada, Entente Canada-Quebec, Canadian Council on Learning, and the Hong Kong University Grants Council. Among his 200-plus publications are Career Anxiety: Guidance Through Tough Times (with Margaret Driscoll and Yvonne Thayer), Informal Learning Basics, and Training Design Basics. He is the immediate past president of the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education, a Fellow and past board member of the Institute for Performance and Learning, and a Fellow and past international president of the Society for Technical Communication. He is a recipient of a SALTISE Innovator's Award, the Concordia University Alumni Teaching Award, and the Concordia Provost's Circle of Distinction. He is a Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) and holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, University of Minnesota and Georgia State University.
