Alexander Ananyev

Alexander Ananyev is an associated research fellow with the University of Tübingen. He works as environmental historian of Russia and the Soviet Union with an interest in several aspects of
human interactions with the natural world. His main scholarly ambition has been to demonstrate the pertinence of environmental perspectives to major questions in Russian history. He is
currently finishing his fist book devoted to environmental issues of the North and the Arctic which aims to demonstrate how it became the key that allowed Russian state actors to step on the
international stage in order to deal with environmental conditions in the Russian Arctic.
