Dr Holly Trochet

I am a postdoc in Julie Hussin's lab at the Montreal Heart Institute. My research concerns genetic risk scores and the link between infertility and cardiovascular disease.

I earned my DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2018. My work there was on the development and testing of a method to find pleiotropic variants (genetic variants that affect multiple traits) from genome-wide association test summary statistics.

Prior to starting my doctoral work, I was a research assistant at the University of Edinburgh in the lab of Caroline Hayward and Veronique Vitart. I was responsible for performing the quality control on Generation Scotland's Family Health Study data. I performed genotype calling, QC, and imputed the dataset.

In 2013, completed a masters at the University of Edinburgh in quantitative genetics and genome analysis. During that time, I worked on projects related to the link between depression and intelligence phenotypes, and on the heritability of human longevity.

Finally, I completed my undergraduate degree was an MMath (undergraduate + masters degree) in pure mathematics from the University of St Andrews in 2010. My thesis was about universal algebra and Birkhoff's HSP Theorem.

I didn't really intend for this bio to be entirely about my academic history, but I wasn't sure what else to say. I promise I have an actual personality and think about things other than work.
