Sue-Jin Lin

I obtained a PhD degree at the Graduate Program in Neuroscience, the University of British Columbia in 2018. My previous training combined neuroimaging data, clinical and cognitive assessments, and engineering approaches to answer clinical questions in Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and Multiple Sclerosis. During the training, I was involved in an interdisciplinary environment with a multi-centre clinical trial and several collaborated research projects within the university, which allowed me to work with people from different backgrounds such as engineers, physicists, physicians, and psychologists.

Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI), McGill University, and have been working there since 2019. My research focuses on precision medicine in neurodegenerative diseases such as PD and others. In our current project, we include multimodal imaging and clinical data to study how individual variations inform disease progression and treatment responsiveness, aiming to provide guidelines and helpful information for future treatment developments at the individual level. I have also been collaborating with clinical scientists and neurosurgeons in Europe as well as imaging experts at the MNI. Therefore, I have experience in bridging clinical and technical research in an interdisciplinary and international team as well as develop the skills to "translate" technical results for clinical audiences.
