Amanda Velazquez Salazar

Amanda is a young Mexican researcher who studied in France at Université Toulouse 3 - Paul Sabatier. She holds a bachelor’s degree in fundamental physics, a master’s degree in solid-state physics, and a PhD in electrical engineering (2018), where she focused on developing a (F)LIMM technique under electrical constraint in collaboration with the LAPLACE lab. She was awarded a doctoral scholarship of excellence by CONACYT (National Council of Science and Technology – Mexican Ministry of Higher Education).

She acquired valuable experience during master’s internships in various laboratories in Toulouse, such as LAAS, LAPLACE, and ISAE.

Since May 2019, she has been collaborating with ETS in Montreal, on a research project associated with the European industry, which aims to develop a technology capable of ensuring the proper functioning of a dry capacitor under high voltage. The study, improvement, and validation of this technology are achieved by measuring the partial discharge (PD) under different electrical fields. This postdoctoral project is funded by a MITACS fellowship.

Amanda was elected president of the Comité interuniversitaire des Postdocs for the7th Annual Postdoctoral Career Conference in January 2020, and elected vice-president of the Syndicat des Employées et Employés de Recherche de l'ÉTS (SEERÉTS) in June 2020.
