Sylvain Nicolay a été récemment nommé professeur adjoint au sein du département de génie électrique et informatique de l’Université de Sherbrooke. Il est co-titulaire de la chaire de recherche MEI sur le déploiement des technologies quantiques. Il est diplômé avec un doctorat en photonique de l’École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Suisse). À la suite de cette formation, le Prof. Nicolay a travaillé en tant que chef de groupe au sein du laboratoire photovoltaïque de l’EPFL avant de devenir responsable de groupe de recherche travaillant sur la technologie photovoltaïque au sein d’un centre privé, le Centre Suisse d’Électronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM S.A.) en 2012. Le Prof. Nicolay est spécialiste du développement des matériaux en couches minces pour diverses applications énergétiques. Les travaux scientifiques du Prof. Nicolay lui ont permis de publier plus d’une centaine d’articles scientifiques et d’atteindre un facteur de citation (h-index) de 39 avec plus de 6000 citations.

Sylvain Nicolay was recently appointed assistant professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke. He is co-holder of the MEI research chair on the deployment of quantum technologies. He graduated with a doctorate in photonics from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland). Following this training, Prof. Nicolay worked as a group leader in the EPFL photovoltaic laboratory before becoming head of a research group working on photovoltaic technology in a private center, the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM S.A.) in 2012. Prof. Nicolay specializes in the development of thin film materials for various energy applications.  Prof. Nicolay’s scientific work has allowed him to publish more than a hundred scientific articles and to reach a citation factor (h-index) of 39 with more than 6000 citations.
