Raihanna Hirji-Khalfan
Raihanna Hirji-Khalfan is a racialized, visibly Muslim, Brown, British/Canadian, able-bodied, immigrant/settler, woman. Raihanna’s work in the disability arena is informed by her experience working with racialized people with disabilities for close to 20 years. During this time, Raihanna has worked to advance disability rights, anti-racism, equity, and anti-oppressive practice in the non-profit and public sectors. As the National Director at Race & Disability Canada, Raihanna leads a small but mighty team working on research, program and resource development to build the capacity of the disability sector on the intersections of race and disability. In her previous role, Raihanna worked as the Accessibility Officer at McMaster University’s Equity and Inclusion Office, where she managed the University’s compliance obligations with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and led campus-wide education and training initiatives on human-rights issues. Raihanna has a diverse academic background with an undergraduate degree in Law, a master’s degree in business & IT, a Masters in Critical Disability Studies, and an LL.M in Canadian Common Law.
